West Springfield residents want to warn drivers after their vehicles were targeted by thieves.

Both West Springfield and Agawam have seen a number of tires being stolen over the last few weeks.

The Fitzgerald family said they had all of their tires and rims stolen from their Honda while it was parked in the driveway.

They said the incident took their sense of security, and now they're speaking up.

Elizabeth Fitzgerald said she remembers the Saturday morning so clearly as she was with her 7-year-old daughter about to get her hair done when she found out all four wheels were gone.

She said she even had special lug nuts but the thieves were still able to steal them.

"It was upsetting and lose sense of security when you feel they violate your space," Fitzgerald noted.

Other victims also speaking out.

Michael Fitzgerald said his neighbors had their tires stolen a few days after.

The Fitzgeralds, who have six young girls and another one on the way, said they recently cleaned out their garage to make room for their cars.

"Wonder if they scoped us out. You have to be brave to go into someone's property and go do that," Fitzgerald added.

Wilbraham Tire and Auto Sales Manager Ed Ennis said thieves tend to look for places that are easily accessible and hidden from view.

Ennis suggests putting your car in a garage, and to make sure your driveway is lit up.
