Man rescued by Wilbraham resident and officer after his canoe capsized

WILBRAHAM, MA (WGGB/WSHM) -

A man was rescued by a Wilbraham resident and a police officer after his canoe capsized at Nine Mile Pond on Wednesday.

Wilbraham police said around 10 p.m. they received a report that a person in the water was in distress. 

When officers arrived, they saw a canoe capsized and a man was in the water. 

That's when a Wilbraham police officer, and a nearby resident entered the water and helped the man get to shore.

Police said the man was taken to the hospital with what appeared to be minor injuries.
