Mother's Day came early for a Westfield woman recovering from back surgery
She's the foundation of a family dealing with health hardships.
Now, her daughters are giving thanks for her endless love and support, with help from our Lia Auto Group Surprise Squad.
"My sister and I have been through health issues and no matter what, she puts her pain aside to take care of us," said Laurie Kelly.
Elaine Kelly has stood by her daughters' side through thick and thin, taking care of her oldest, Laurie, who is battling multiple sclerosis and her youngest, Lisa, who beat ovarian cancer - all while dealing with major back pain herself.
"She's stubborn and keeps going and helped support my sister and I a lot," Laurie noted.
Elaine was so stubborn that when she realized we were on the way, she drove off to avoid the cameras.
"[You did it, you did it. You left.] I did. [You ran away] I'm sorry. I tried to sneak away," Elaine Kelly said.
Both of Elaine's daughters reached out to the Surprise Squad and said that she was their absolute rock and you've had back surgery lately.
We asked Elaine what had been the hardest since her surgery. "Just keeping up with the cleaning," she said.
Although Elaine's house was immaculate, MaidPro in Springfield stepped in to tidy it up even more.
Nurses by trade, both Elaine and Laurie find it hard to accept help.
"It's difficult having people wait on you when you wait on everyone else," Elaine said.
We also had one more gift for Elaine - a new 43 inch television, because we heard she was in need of one.
