Two people have been arraigned in connection with the investigation into a body that was found in Hatfield earlier this year.
Mary Carey, spokesperson for the Northwestern District Attorney's office, said that 22-year-old Alondra Gil of Northampton and 22-year-old Mercedes Diaz-Wright of Northampton were indicted Tuesday.
"The indictments issued by the Grand Jury relate to an ongoing criminal investigation into the death of Daniel Cruz, whose burning, deceased body was found in Hatfield on March 10, 2018," Carey explained.
Gil and Diaz-Wright were arrested by Northampton Police and Mass. State Police following the indictment and both were arraigned Wednesday.
Gil was arraigned on a charge of perjury, while Diaz-Wright was arraigned on a charge of misleading a police officer.
Bail for Gil was set at $3,500. She is due back in court on June 23 for a pre-trial hearing.
Diaz-Wright was ordered held on $10,000 cash bail, without prejudice. She is due back in court for a bail hearing on May 16.
Carey noted that the investigation into Cruz's death is ongoing.
