With all the pomp and circumstance a graduate deserves, thousands of students across the Commonwealth are earning their diploma this weekend.

"I'm so excited to finally finish grad school," says graduate Lorelei Batchelder. "I feel like it's been a long time coming and I can't wait to get started on my career."

It is a milestone that students dream of for years.

Western Mass News watched as more than a thousand Bay Path University students processed into commencement ceremonies at the Mass Mutual Center.

"It's super," says Bay Path graduate Danielle Cassista. "Eight years in the making and it feels good to be done finally."

Earlier Saturday, American International College graduates also celebrated their achievements in the Mass Mutual Center.

The city of Springfield and surrounding communities grow during graduation weekend as many visitors come to see their friends and family walk the stage.

Graduation weekend at UMass is fully underway as well.

Close to 5,500 high-achieving students began commencement festivities Friday.

Graduation is more than just a milestone for those wearing a cap and gown. "Especially for it being before Mother's Day," stated Kaylina Green. "It's a gift for me and my son and a new start."

There are a number of graduations still ahead, including Springfield College undergraduate commencement tomorrow morning at the Mass Mutual Center.
