Emergency crews told Western Mass News on Tuesday that they prepare not just today - but every day - to try and eliminate trees that could be an issue and strong winds like the ones expected to company today's storms
We caught up with Eversource today as they trimmed trees on Gillette Avenue in Springfield.
Eversource spends over $40 million for vegetation management, which includes the pruning and removal of what they call 'hazard trees' that could fall on lines and create outages.
Ahead of the storm, they have many crews on standby in the event of downs trees and lines.
"We prepare for crazy everyday. In a storm situation like this, we are interacting with their line department. They'll have crews in standby and have them ready in the event the storms do come through," said Paul Sellers with Eversource.
Sellers recommended that anybody who sees a tree that could become an issue to give a call to Eversource so they can add it to their list.
