Over 1,400 customers without power after storms roll through

SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) -

Several hundred people are in the dark after strong storms moved through the area.

As of 5:20 p.m. Tuesday, National Grid was reporting over 1,300 customers without power.  Many of those outages are being reported in Hampden (769) and in Monson (475), and Granby (159).

Eversource reports that 109 customers are currently without power, with most of those outages - 53 customers - being reported in Amherst.

Amherst Police told Western Mass News that some wires went down on Lessey Street around 4:20 p.m. and some outages are in that area.

Outages are also being reported in West Springfield and Southampton.
