Two Springfield men are under arrest on drug charges following an investigation.
Springfield Police spokesperson Ryan Walsh said that officers saw two men involved in a drug transaction involving crack cocaine on the 900 block of Worthington Street on Wednesday afternoon.
The investigation, Walsh noted, was based on "community concerns of drug activity in their neighborhood."
One of the suspects, identified as 42-year-old Andre Edmund of Springfield, was reportedly pulled over at State and Terrace Streets and taken into custody.
The second suspect, identified as 37-year-old Frenshaun Smith of Springfield, was arrested in the rear of 941 Worthington Street.
"Both individuals also had crack-cocaine on them," Walsh noted.
Edmund is facing charges including three counts of distribution of a Class B substance (crack cocaine) and possession of a Class B substance (crack cocaine) with intent to distribute.
Smith is charged with distribution of a Class B substance (crack cocaine) and possession of a Class B substance (crack cocaine) with intent to distribute, as well as an outstanding warrant (juror failure to attend).
Investigators recovered 15 grams of crack cocaine and individual rocks as a result of the investigation.
