EASTHAMPTON, MA (WGGB/WSHM) -

A downed wire on Mineral Street in Easthampton left several people in the dark.

The outage occurred around 6:00 Sunday evening.

A spokesperson for Eversource tells Western Mass News that a tree limb came down and struck a power line.

The line came down and fell across the middle of the street, leaving police no choice but to close it off.

Mineral Street has since reopened.

Eversource told us that a total of 43 people were without power until around 7:30 p.m.

Residents of Westhampton and Southampton were affected by this incident as well.

The reason the tree limb came down was due to a combination of strong winds and an already weak limb.
