Victim of deadly Deerfield crash identified

DEERFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) -

Authorities have identified the person who died following a crash early Monday morning in Franklin County.

Mary Carey, spokesperson for the Northwestern District Attorney's office, said that 36-year-old Robert Eaton of Turners Falls died after the car he was driving crashed around 4:40 a.m. Monday along Lower Road in Deerfield.

"The vehicle left the roadway, collided with a telephone pole, and caught fire.  The operator was transported to Baystate Franklin Medical Center in Greenfield, where he was pronounced dead," Carey explained.

The crash remains under investigation.
