New charges for suspended Springfield officer accused of raping a child

SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) -

A new set of charges in Chicopee against a suspended Springfield Police Officer already facing child rape charges out of Springfield. 

Daniel Cintron was arraigned yesterday in Chicopee District Court.  He's facing multiple charges including 2 counts of Rape of a Child With Force, 2 counts of Indecent Assault and Battery of a Child Under 14, Obscene Matter to a Minor, 2 counts of Child in a Sexual Act Pose/Exhibit and 1 count of Witness Intimidation.

Late last week Monson police arrested the 28-year-old in their community.  He was then arraigned in Springfield District Court on 8 counts of Rape of a Child With Force, 5 counts of Indecent Assault and Battery of a Child Under 14, and 5 counts of Witness Intimidation.

Springfield police say Cintron was already suspended without pay from charges relating to an off-duty incident that happened last year.

Cintron is being held without bail and is due back in court in Chicopee for a Dangerousness Hearing on May 25th.
