Millions of Americans are celebrating Memorial Day this weekend and local businesses are getting ready for the weekend.
Finally, the weather is getting nicer, and with that people are ready to get outdoors and grill.
Stores in western Massachusetts saw a rush of customers coming in today for last minute preps.
Memorial Day weekend is a tradition for many families in western Massachusetts.
It wouldn't be Memorial Day weekend without a few barbecues, and liquor stores said they're seeing an increase in customers this holiday weekend.
Keenan O'Reilly is a cashier at Plaza Package Store in Springfield.
He said they've seen more customers than usual this week.
"Been a lot of people coming in and out non stop for the last week," said O'Reilly.
He added this weekend is one of their busiest.
"I would say between this Thanksgiving and St. Patty's Day are the three biggest one for people stocking up for parties and families," he continued.
While it's important to have a good time this weekend, O'Reilly said it's just as important to be smart.
"Uber [is] better and cheaper to spend $10 doing that than get in an accident it gets up there," he noted.
Local police departments told Western Mass News they expect to have more patrols out this weekend.
