Man arrested in North Carolina for Springfield murder, victim shot in the head

A West Springfield man has been arrested in North Carolina for the murder of Paul "P.J." Finegan in Springfield, Mass. on May 5th.

Terrance Montgomery, 23, from Ervin Street in West Springfield is facing several charges including Murder, Discharging a Firearm Within 500 Feet of a Building, and Carrying a Firearm Without a License. 

Springfield Police Department spokesperson, Ryan Walsh reported his arrest Tuesday afternoon.

"...U.S. Marshal's located Mr. Montgomery at a home in Laurinburg, North Carolina and arrested him on a Fugitive from Justice Warrant," Walsh said.

An arrest warrant for Montgomery was obtained on Friday. 

Montgomery is expected to face murder charges in Hampden County for the shooting death of Finegan after his rendition in North Carolina.  

23-year-old Paul Finegan of Springfield died after he was shot in the head during a birthday party for a three year old at a residence on Margerie Street in Springfield.
