SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) -

A New Hampshire man is facing several charges including assault and battery on a police officer after he reportedly stole a pizza then fled from police.

Brimfield police said on their department's Facebook page that around 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, 20-year-old Cameron Sola stole a pizza from Athens Pizza on Sturbridge Road.

When someone confronted Sola about paying for the pizza, he drove off in a green Toyota with New Hampshire license plates.

An officer spotted Sola's car and attempted to pull him over, but he accelerated away.

Police said once Sola was out of sight, he pulled into a driveway and abandoned the vehicle but he went back shortly after.

When officers went to place Sola in custody, he resisted and had to be tazed.

Sola was charged with the following:

  • Assault and battery on a police officer
  • Resisting arrest
  • Larceny under $250
  • Failure to stop for a police officer

Sola is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday in Palmer District Court.
