Five people displaced following Springfield fire

SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) -

Several people have been displaced following a fire in Springfield.

Dennis Leger, aide to Springfield's fire commissioner, said that firefighters were called to 49 Lowell Street just before 4:30 p.m. Thursday for a reported fire.

Crews arrived on-scene and found a fire on the third floor, which they were able to quickly extinguish.

No injuries were reported.

Leger added that the Red Cross is assisting five people who were displaced by the fire.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
