Three arrested in Sturbridge for illegal firearm

CHARLTON, MA (WGGB/WSHM) -

Three Ohio residents were arrested Saturday afternoon on Route 90 for carrying an illegal firearm and other charges.

Massachusetts State Police tell Western Mass News that Trooper Scott Shea pulled over a 2017 Hyundai Accent after the vehicle nearly collided with another vehicle while abruptly moving from the left to the middle lane.

The driver, a 36 year-old man from Canton, Ohio, did not have a license.

Upon further investigation of the vehicle, police obtained a .38 caliber revolver as well as five rounds of ammunition.

The two other passengers, a 26 year-old woman from Canton and a 27 year-old man from Akron, Ohio, were also arrested for possessing an illegal firearm.

The driver was also charged with three different traffic violations.

The driver is being held on $5,000 bail while the male passenger is being held on $2,000 bail and the female passenger is being held on  $250 bail.

All three are scheduled to be arraigned in Dudley District Court on Monday.
