MGM Springfield is requesting an extension on the time to serve alcohol.
The matter is being addressed at a meeting underway at Springfield city hall.
The meeting began around 5 p.m.
MGM Springfield is looking to extend the hours that alcohol can be served to gamers.
At tonight’s meeting of the Springfield City Council, they will be discussing the alcohol serving hours.
While all bars will close at 2 a.m., the proposal before the state gaming commission asks that alcohol be served until 4 a.m, to anyone actively gambling on the casino floor.
The Massachusetts Gaming Commission did release a statement to Western Mass News saying: “A recent legislative amendment provided the MGC with authority to consider a two-hour extension of alcohol service at licensed gaming facilities only on the gaming floor so long as the patron is actively gaming.”
MGM Springfield is set to open on August 24.
