Car fire that extended to Springfield home leaves 11 displaced

SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) -

A car fire that extended to a home Springfield Tuesday afternoon caused hundreds of thousands of dollars in damage, and now 11 residents are without a home.

Denis Leger, Executive Aide to the Springfield Fire Commissioner said crews arrived to the home on 95-97 Lebanon Street around 5:10 p.m.

Leger noted the cause of the fire was from a Jeep CJ in the driveway.

When our crew arrived on-scene, smoke could be seen from the street. 

Firefighters cut an opening in the front of the house and flames came bursting out of the home. 

Leger said the fire caused around $100,000 in damage, and the Red Cross is assisting those residents at this time.
