The Deerfield Police Department is asking for the public's help following a reported armed home invasion just after midnight.  Police say the victim was punched in the chest and that it was not a random act.  They're now looking for 3 male suspects.

Western Mass News spoke with Deerfield Police Officer, Adam Sokoloski and he tells us officers were called to the scene at 12:17 a.m. Sunday to a camper on River Road where the victim lives.

"..His camper was entered by 3 male subjects," explained Sokoloski.

The suspects allegedly punched the victim in the chest and police also say they were armed with a knife and demanded cash and keys to the house, but left without obtaining that.

The knife believed to be involved in the assault was located by State Police K-9 called in to assist in the investigation.

The knife we're told, was found on the lawn of the residence by the road.

"That knife will be tested," noted Sokoloski.

Police report they believe the victim was targeted.  They say there is no danger to the public.

"(We) Do not believe this was a random act," Sokoloski confirmed with Western Mass News.

The 3 suspects are believed to have left the scene in a vehicle.

Police confirm the victim refused to be transported to the hospital after being checked by the ambulance crew.

The Deerfield Police Department is asking anyone who saw someone parked on River Road around midnight to please contact them at 413-665-2606.
