WEST SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) -

City officials continue to investigate a massive pile of trash left by a bear hole.

Mayor Will Reichel posted a video to Facebook two days ago, where you can easily see a pile of furniture, beds, boxes, doll houses and other garbage.

This is not the first case of illegal dumping in the city, or in western Mass.

Mayor Reichelt says the fines for improper disposal far outweigh the costs to dump in an allowed area.

"There are other places in town," Mayor Reichelt tells us. "At the transfer station, this stuff's taken for free. If you're a resident, a lot of the stuff you can put in your trash for free."

Mayor Reichelt adds that if you have questions about dumping procedures, or see anything suspicious, give his office a call, or contact local police.
