Rain chances and higher humidity return Wednesday - Western Mass News - WGGB/WSHM

First Warning Forecast:

Rain chances and higher humidity return Wednesday

Posted: Updated:

Another beautiful day with sunshine and high temps around 80! A gusty breeze will subside a bit overnight, however we do keep a breeze through morning. High clouds will also continue to build through morning, but temperatures still fall back to the middle 50s.

Scattered showers are looking likely for the morning as a warm front approaches western Mass. Wet weather may hold off until after 8am, but spotty showers will be around most of the day after that. Expect partly sunny skies with increasing humidity and highs in the lower to middle 70s.

Low pressure will pass well to our north Wednesday evening, bringing a cold front through the region. This front should spark at least some showers, but potentially a few thunderstorms as well. It’s looking very unlikely we’d see anything severe, however it can’t be totally ruled out. Isolated at best, any storms could bring some strong wind gusts and small hail.

We go back to our tranquil weather pattern for the end of the week, with low humidity, warm afternoons and cool nights. Thursday and Friday will both be pleasant, though breezy Thursday. Very dry air sticks around to start the weekend, giving us a cool Saturday morning. We should get warmer in the afternoon due to surface high pressure moving east and a southwesterly flow kicking back in.

A southwesterly flow and upper level ridge build over the Northeast Sunday, bringing some big heat to our area. Temperatures will climb into the middle and upper 80s for Father’s Day under a mostly sunny sky and healthy breeze. Humidity will be on the rise as well, but still manageable Sunday-then brutal Monday. We may see temperatures take a run at the record of 95 Monday afternoon! A back-door cold front will bring a chance for thunderstorms late Monday into Tuesday along with some potential heat relief.
