Westover to conduct plane crash simulation exercise on Wednesday

Posted: Updated:

If you see more police officers and firefighters than usual at Westover tomorrow, don't worry.

Members of the Chicopee Police and Fire Departments, along with State Police will be joining the 439th Airlift Wing in a major accident response exercise on Wednesday.

Those first responders will take part in the exercise that will simulate an aircraft accident.

Training is scheduled to take place early Wednesday afternoon on the base adjacent to the Westover Metropolitan Airport.

"Our exercise organizers aim to ensure an efficient and effective response in the event of an accident. Another goal of the exercise is to reinforce emergency response training before our Great New England Air And Space Show in July," Master Sgt. Andrew Biscoe, acting chief of public affairs wrote.
