An injured hiker had to be rescued from Mt. Tom on Thursday.
Holyoke Fire Capt. Kevin Cavagnac told Western Mass News that fire crews, along with Holyoke Police and Mass. DCR, responded to the mountain around 10 a.m. for a report of an injured female hiker.
The hiker was assisted on the mountain by other hikers who were passing by and then called 911. Those people were able to provide authorities accurate directions to get to the woman.
Cavagnac added that crews were able to drive their 4x4 trucks up an old ski slope to get to the hiker and then bring her down to safety.
The extent of that hiker's injuries is not immediately known.
