NORTHAMPTON, MA (WGGB/WSHM) -

Emergency crews descended on the area near a Northampton dog park Friday morning.

Mary Carey, spokesperson for the Northwestern District Attorney's office, said that this morning, a man was found dead inside a vehicle just off of Burts Pit Road in Northampton.

Due to a small fire that occurred inside the passenger compartment of the car, Northampton firefighters - along with Northampton Police, troopers assigned to the D.A.'s office, and the Mass. Department of Fire Services - all responded to the scene.

"While the official cause of death will be determined by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, no foul play is suspected at this time, and there is no concern for public safety," Carey explained.

The investigation into the man's death remains active and ongoing.
