An investigation is underway after a hazmat team was called to an Amherst apartment complex Tuesday night, the scene looking a whole lot different now than it did then.

According to Chief Tim Nelson of the Amherst Fire Department, his units were sent here to assist police in some sort of operation around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday night.

Hazmat teams, police, fire, and ambulances all spotted by our Western Mass News cameras.

It's not just first responders surrounding the Windham House Apartments, which is a part of the Colonial Village Apartment complex, the video shows the infamous yellow crime scene tape is as well.

We can confirm that nobody was hurt in what happened, but Chief Nelson couldn't confirm anything else.

The complex itself houses a mix of students and everyday people, we're told.

Neighbors we spoke with say this kind of activity, with all these flashing flights, is unusual for the area.

"We never see stuff like this," resident Suraj Subravadi. "I've seen fire engines a little bit, but not to this scale. We were just kind of freaked out a little bit."

The scene is clear, so whatever threat this hazmat situation posed is now over, but the investigation continues we're told.
