MGM Springfield has unveiled new details surrounding its big grand opening next month, and with it includes an appearance by the world famous Budweiser Clydesdales.
There's only 44 days left until doors officially open at MGM Springfield.
MGM told Western Mass News that guests can expect a big community celebration on Main Street leading up to that moment.
MGM Springfield President Mike Mathis said all the final touches are being made inside the casino, and he's excited to wecome the community inside.
"It's not just MGM but really the community rallied around this opportunity, the city and the Commonwealth," Mathis said.
That's why before they officially open their doors, MGM is inviting everyone to take part in a procession.
The celebration will start at the corner of Main and State Street and will include construction workers, employees, and the world famous Budweiser Clydesdale.
There will also be surprise entertainment along Main Street.
"We're transforming this city and I think the community should be down here to celebrate this milestone," Mathis continued.
Mathis said that a lot of logistics surrounding the grand opening, such as parking, are still being discussed with city and state agencies.
Mayor Domenic Sarno encourages everyone to be prepared for the thousands of people making their way to downtown Springfield.
"People need to be patient, but it's sort of a good thing when you have a lot of this traffic coming down Springfield," Sarno added.
"It's going to be organized chaos, but it's going to be the bigger party this side of the state has ever seen," said Mathis.
That procession will begin at 10:30 in the morning, with the casino doors officially opening at about 11 a.m. Friday August 24.
