State Police said a woman was killed in a rollover accident that shut down Route 112 in Huntington for hours Wednesday night.
Crews responded to the single-vehicle accident around 8 p.m. near the the six-mile marker where they found a 2000 Ford pickup truck rolled over.
The driver, who was identified as a 42 year-old Montgomery man, was traveling on the Northbound side of the roadway when he went over the guardrail and into the woods.
We're told the driver was trapped inside the pickup and the passenger, 39 year-old Melinda Carriveau also of Montgomery, had been thrown from the vehicle.
Carriveau was transported to Baystate Noble Hospital in Westfield where she was pronounced dead, as a result of her injuries from the crash.
The driver was transported to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield with serious injuries.
No status yet on his condition.
Both north and southbound sides of Route 112 were shut down as a result of the crash until around 11 p.m. that same night.
This investigation is still ongoing.
