LUDLOW, MA (WGGB/WSHM) -

Ludlow police have determined the body found at Whitney Park Thursday morning was an unattended suicide.

Sgt. Daniel Valadas told Western Mass News two men who were walking in the woods near the park discovered the body and reported it to police around 11:30 a.m.

We're told the a body of what appeared to be a male was discovered in the woods behind the John F. Thompson Memorial swimming pool along the baseball field fence line on the north side of the park.

The scene was cleared just before 2 p.m. after the Massachusetts Medical Examiner's Office removed the body.

The pool was also closed while crews investigated, but it has since reopened.

Sgt. Valadas noted the identity of the deceased could not be immediately identified.

In early April, police also found the body of a 35-year old man at the same park near the tennis courts. There was no foul play suspected there either.
