Brittany Murphy is a co-anchor on Western Mass News from 5-9 a.m. and at 12:30 p.m. on Better Western Mass, as well as a general assignment reporter. She started as a local journalist at Western Mass News in 2015 as the morning traffic reporter.

Born and raised in Massachusetts, Brittany is excited to deliver breaking news and exclusive stories to Western Mass News viewers.

Most recently in 2017-2018, Brittany spent months researching and exposing the risk of cancer and concussions for fire fighters. As a result, several local fire departments in western Mass. received industrial washers and dryers in an effort to combat the risk of cancer.

As part of the Surprise Squad, she highlights the needs of hard working people in our communities and surprises them with various items to help improve their quality of life.

You may also recognize Brittany from her segment 'Buzz Around Town,' exploring hidden gems scattered throughout western Massachusetts and promoting local businesses.

Prior came to Western Mass News team from WMCT-TV in Marlborough, MA, where she held many roles including: news director, anchor, script writer, editor, photographer, and producer. While there, she helped launch a second newscast for the public access station. Brittany also wrote, produced, anchored, edited, and directed Marlborough Living, a show focusing on healthy lifestyles through cooking, exercising, and more.

Brittany is a proud alumnus of Emerson College in Boston where she earned her degree in Journalism.

In the community, Brittany volunteers her time for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, mentoring Type 1 Diabetics. She's on a board of volunteers for Dress for Success, helping women get back into the work force.

Brittany is also an advocate for veterans, first responders, cancer awareness, and many other organizations. She can often be seen at numerous fundraising walks and events where she rallies friends, families, and other volunteers for worthy causes.
