(Meredith) – Police in Waukesha, Wisconsin, say they have arrested a suspect after shots were fired at Waukesha South High School on Monday, December 2.

According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, a student and a school resource officer exchanged gunfire after the student brought a gun to school. It's unclear what occurred before the shooting.

A student emailed the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel around 10:30 a.m., saying that the school was locked down.

Police say the building is now safe and secure, Fox6now reported. Officers also said this is an isolated incident and are not seeking any further suspects.

A nearby elementary school was also put on lockdown.

The name of the alleged suspect has not been released.

No injuries have been reported at this time.
