CHICOPEE, MA (WGGB/WSHM) - A delivery driver was issued a court summons after police say they struck a speed trailer and then took off.

According to Chicopee Police Officer Michael Wilk, officers were informed, around 1:15 p.m., that a driver, which was coming from the Springfield Plaza, struck a speed trailer that was stationed on St. James Avenue and then took off.

We're told that the driver did not see the large, white speed trailer with flashing lights and large numbers.

Wilk says that the speed trailer was totaled.

Upon further investigation, officials were able to identify the driver of the vehicle, a 42-year-old male, and he was issued a court summons for leaving the scene of a property damage crash.
