SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) - A Springfield city official was arrested last night.
The Communications Director for the city’s mayor was taken into custody at MGM after she allegedly damaged property.
Marian Sullivan, the Communications Director for Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno, was arrested by Mass State Police around 3 a.m. on Saturday.
Investigators say Sullivan caused some sort of property damage to the Cal Mare restaurant.
Reports then say the 27-year-old went into the parking garage and caused damaged to cars.
Troopers later found Sullivan in an elevator lobby.
State Police tell Western Mass News they believe she was intoxicated.
Sullivan was taken into custody and charged with destruction of property.
She was booked and released pending a future court appearance.
Mayor Domenic Sarno released a statement that reads in part:
"I'm shocked and very disturbed by the arrest of my communications director Ms. Marian Sullivan on malicious destruction of property charges at MGM. I'm going to suspend Ms. Sullivan until this case has been adjudicated. I am hopeful that she will seek the help that she seems to need and we will be supportive of that effort."
State Police say Sullivan lives in Longmeadow.
We reached out to Mayor Sarno's Chief of Staff, who says Sullivan lives in Springfield.
However, her address is in the same zip code as the town of Longmeadow.
