A Springfield police officer happened to be at the right place at the right time Wednesday morning to help rescue nine ducklings that fell into a storm drain.

Springfield Officer Rafael Vega was in the area of Cooley Street or a "Coffee with a Cop" event when he was approached by a woman who told him about the baby ducks.

The woman and Officer Vega headed over to Parker Street where the baby ducks were trapped.

Officer Vega contacted the DPW and Braman Termite & Pest Elimination, and the ducklings were rescued and brought to safety.
