Governor Charlie Baker is in western Massachusetts Tuesday and is also speaking out about President Trump's U.S. Supreme Court nominee.

The governor has made two stops in western Massachusetts. One at Westfield State and one honoring former Hampden County Sheriff Michael Ashe.

Western Mass News spoke with the governor in between the two events about the President's nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court.

Governor Baker said first and foremost thatch he supports a women's right to choose, and that's what he is looking for in a Supreme Court candidate.

In the past, Judge Kavanaugh has been solidly conservative and the Supreme Court going more conservative is something many democrats are hoping does not happen.

The governor just asks that he is properly vetted

"I do think this is an important time for the senate to do its job and engage in the conversation, and ensure that this candidate is going to uphold the president of Roe V. Wade appropriately going forward," said Governor Baker.

Western Mass News will have more on the governor's announcement at Westfield State University tonight at 6 p.m. on ABC40 and CBS3.
