A Holyoke man has been sentenced after pleading guilty in federal court to child pornography charges.
The U.S. Attorney's office said that 75-year-old Edward Dupont was sentenced Thursday to eight years in prison and seven years of supervised release.
That sentence comes after Dupont pleaded guilty back in January to one count of receipt of child pornography.
Investigators executed a search warrant on Dupont's Holyoke home in June 2015. During that search, they reportedly seized a computer containing 35 videos and over 16,000 images of child pornography.
Four of those videos reported depicted the rapes of girls as young as five years old.
Prosecutors also said that Dupont possessed "How to Practice Child Love," a 170-page professionally designed document that reportedly presents itself as a guide for adults on how to engage and practice sexual relationships with children.
"During the search, Dupont waived his Miranda rights and stated that he has a sexual interest in young children; he has used his computer to access child pornography sites and to download child pornography images and videos; and he possessed child pornography on his home computer," the U.S. Attorney's office said in a statement.
Prosecutors noted that while Dupont denied ever having sexual contact with children, he did admit to that kids in the neighborhood played in his backyard and basement and that he gave copies of house keys to neighbors so their children could come over any time they wanted.
A cupboard with games for the kids to play was maintained in the home.
