Mass. foundation announces 2018 'Free Fun Fridays'

If you are looking for some ideas for free summer fun with the family, one group may have dozens of suggestions.

Highland Street Foundation of Newton has announced the locations for their 2018 'Free Fun Fridays.'

For ten Fridays over the summer, no-cost admission is offered to visitors at many cultural venues across the state.

"This program was created to increase access and enrichment opportunities for children and families throughout Massachusetts during the summer months," the foundation noted.

Locations spanning each corner of the state take part in each 'Free Fun Friday', including several in western Massachusetts such as: June 29 - Berkshire Theatre Group, Stockbridge June 29 - The Mount: Edith Wharton's Home, Lenox June 29 - Clark Art Museum, Williamstown July 6 - Amelia Park Children's Museum, Westfield July 6 - Hancock Shaker Village, Pittsfield July 13 - Chesterwood, Stockbridge July 13 - Venfort Hall Mansion and Gilded Age Museum, Lenox July 13 - Children's Museum of Holyoke, Holyoke July 13 - International Volleyball Hall of Fame, Holyoke July 13 - Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center, Great Barrington July 20 - Springfield Museums, Springfield July 27 - Boston Symphony Orchestra at Tanglewood, Lenox Aug. 3 - Naumkeag The Trustees, Stockbridge Aug. 3 - Historic Deerfield, Deerfield Aug. 3 - Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art, Amherst Aug. 10 - Jacob's Pillow Dance, Becket Aug. 17 - Berkshire Museum, Pittsfield Aug. 24 - MASS MoCA, North Adams Aug. 24 - Smith College Museum of Art, Northampton Aug. 24 - Emily Dickinson Museum, Amherst Aug. 31 - Norman Rockwell Museum, StockbridgeThe group said that since 2009, more than 900,000 visitors have been drawn to venues through the Commonwealth on 'Free Fun Fridays.'
