Westfield Police responded to a serious rollover accident on North Road around 5 o'clock this evening. Officials were forced to shut down the road for several hours while they investigated the crash. Police tell Western Mass News that the two cars involved in the accident were found mangled on the front lawn of a home. Rescue crews worked to free some occupants were trapped in a car.

Neighbors say that speeding has been an ongoing issue on the road. “People are always like flying down this road, non-stop,” said Elizabeth Coverly Dey, a resident of North Road. She told Western Mass News that there was a fatal accident on her lawn over the summer. Yesterday there was another accident on North road.

“I kind of feel unsafe living on this road now because of what happened to us, and because it’s all around us still happening,” said Coverly Dey. She hopes that more is done to stop speeding in the area. “I hope that we actually see more cops on the road to stop people because clearly it’s a problem if this many accidents are happening,” she said.

We will be sure to bring you the latest details as soon as they come into the newsroom.
