A Springfield man is under arrest on several charges following a traffic stop.

Springfield Police spokesperson Ryan Walsh said that around 9 p.m. Thursday, a driver cut-off police officers at the intersection of Forest Park Avenue and Woodside Terrace.

Police conducted a traffic stop a short time later and police said that the driver, identified as 24-year-old Maurice Howard of Springfield, didn't have a drivers license.

Investigators also allegedly found a firearm in the vehicle.

Howard was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm without an FID card, possession of ammunition without an FID card, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, failure to yield to oncoming traffic when turning left, and a default warrant out of Northampton District Court.
