Springfield Police arrests family accused of dealing heroin


Springfield Police made a second big drug arrest, yielding 800 bags of heroin, $635 dollars in cash and drug paraphernalia.

Sergeant John Delaney of the Springfield Police Department says detectives arrested several members of a family who was reportedly selling large amounts of heroin from the second story of their Pine Street home.

Detectives arrested Roman Correa, 19, who is charged with trafficking, his sister Jennifer Almodovar, 22, was arrested on charges of resisting arrest. His mother Frances Almodocar, 56, is charged with assault and battery on a police officer as well as resisting arrest.

Police also arrested four others who reportedly purchased heroin from the family, moments before the raid. Stephen Smola, 32, Southbridge MA, Lee Russell, 32, Monson MA, Katherine Kennedy, 27, Monson MA, and Lindsay Woodbury, 28 of Westfield MA, were arrested and charged with possession of heroin.

Police say that Roman Correa is being held at the police station over the weekend.
