One person suffered a gunshot wound in Springfield overnight, police report.

Ryan Walsh, spokesperson for the Springfield Police Department confirms officers heard shots in the area of Bridge and Dwight streets at 2:20 a.m. Saturday.

They then pulled over a car that was spotted fleeing the area.

Walsh says one of the people in the vehicle had a gunshot wound, describing it as non-life threatening.

Police confirm the individual was a male. He was transported to Baystate Medical Center by ambulance.

Further details about the shooting investigation have not been released.
