Get ready to practice your golf swing in downtown Springfield.

MGM Springfield is slowly unveiling what will be inside the multi-million dollar facility come September.

On Tuesday, MGM Springfield announced a virtual golf experience that could have you out on the links all year round.

If you're a golfer and Wednesday's snowstorm has you feeling blue, coming soon to MGM Springfield is something for you.

The idea of playing golf year-round is appealing to many and come September, Topgolf, a virtual golf simulator, will open in MGM Springfield.

"This is going to be a great place where up to eight folks can gather round in an interactive golf experience indoors, accompanied by a great full bar," said MGM Springfield general manager Alex Dixon.

The company said that the Swing Suite will feature three high-tech simulators with a 2,800 square foot suite, which will open onto the resort's outdoor plaza.

Guests will be able to play solo or in groups while enjoying food and cocktails.

When it's time to take that shot, a player will step up to a large, theater-style screen for a selection of virtual games.

Taking a couple of swings in the dead of winter followed by a couple cocktails is a major draw for the casino.

Dixon told Western Mass News that he's excited that this is going to appeal to those who maybe aren't coming to Springfield to gamble, but to take in the rest of the attractions that MGM is offering.

MGM Springfield President Michael Mathis added in a statement: “Our goal is for MGM Springfield to become a destination for the community and for the region. With entertainment experiences that can’t be found elsewhere, our resort should become the go-to place no matter what kind of evening you are looking for. Those familiar with Topgolf already know how much fun is in store; and for those new to the experience – just wait. This is sure to be one of the most exciting corners of our resort."

No matter the weather - March snow storm or not - once the Topgolf Swing Suites open, they are usable year-round.

"Totally indoor, but you're able to enter into it from our outdoor plaza, so right outside from Topgolf will be in the summertime, some great concerts, in the wintertime, the ice skating rink. Springtime, there will be farmers markets," Dixon explained. Now that we are only a few weeks away from golf season, it's easy to think 'Well why would we need to be inside?' but with heavy snow hitting Massachusetts Wednesday and Thursday, MGM is looking ahead to days when that won't matter. "I'm ready to hit the links and hopefully, our customers - later this year in September - will be able to do that inside of one of our swing suites," Dixon added.

There will also be a lounge where guests can enjoy some food, beverages, and a game on one of several televisions. Live musical performances will also be held on select nights.

The Springfield location will mark the third collaboration between MGM Resorts International and Topgolf, including a Topgolf Swing Suite at MGM Detroit and a four-story Topgolf venue at MGM Grand Las Vegas.
