Two people are in the hospital after a car veers off the road and into the side of an auto shop.

Springfield Police got the call around 3 a.m. to 784 Bay Street, home to Bay Auto Sales.

Upon arrival, police and fire found a car that went up and over the curb, hitting the side of the building and the fence outside it.

The car is a four-door Toyota with Massachusetts license plates.

Officials used the jaws of life to extricate the driver.

The driver was taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

The lone passenger was already out of the car when first responders arrived.

Bay Street has since re-opened.

The accident is still under investigation.
