QUEENSBURY, NY (WGGB/WSHM) - State Police in New York arrested two residents from western Mass following a traffic stop late Tuesday night.
According to New York State Police Troop G Commander Major Robert Patnaude, around 11:15 p.m. on Tuesday, August 13, troopers stopped a vehicle on the northbound side of I-87 in Queensbury after witnessing the driver not use his turn signal and was unable to maintain his lane.
Upon pulling the vehicle over, troopers spoke with the driver, later identified as Springfield resident Eddie Santiago, and the passenger, who was later identified as East Longmeadow resident Carmen Rosario.
As they were speaking to both of the occupants, troopers observed an odor of marijuana and alcohol emitting from the vehicle.
Both occupants were then asked to step outside of the vehicle.
Upon searching the vehicle, troopers were able to locate an undisclosed amount of drugs and cash, as well as an unspecified loaded handgun.
Santiago and Rosario were then placed under arrest.
A list of charges has not yet been made available.
Trooper Patnaude adds that both suspects were arraigned on Wednesday and were then taken to the Warren County Jail "for lack of bail".
