A wet and cool start to the weekend. Drying out for Mother's Day

Waking up to clouds this morning and it's looking like a wet start to our weekend. The good news is it looks like we will dry things out in time for Mother's Day.

A wet and chilly day on tap for western Mass today. Most of the rain we are expecting will fall in the morning and early afternoon. Some moderate showers are possible, leading to around a quarter to a half inch of rainfall. Low pressure will pass along a stalled front to out south with most of the rain, so after that passes, much of the late afternoon and evening look drier. Temperatures should only max out in the upper 40s to around 50 at that time-about 20 degrees below normal!

A front to our south will push a bit farther south on Sunday, allowing for some clearing skies-to at least partly cloudy. We keep an easterly wind during the day, which will keep temperatures seasonable in western Mass and chilly toward the coast. At least it looks like a dry day for any plans you may have with mom. Highs will top out in the middle to upper 60s.

A front remains well to our south Monday and Tuesday, which will help continue dry weather. We will also get warmer with highs in the 70s Monday and low 80s Tuesday. The second half of the week looks unsettled with a stalled front to our north and south and waves of low pressure riding along them. This will bring in waves of showers and keep clouds around through Friday. High pressure building to our north should kick a cold front farther south through our area, which would dry us out by the weekend-but that is still very uncertain at this point.
