Cool Temperatures For New Year's Eve; Flurries Friday Afternoon?

We saw highs top off in the low 40s after the pesky fog stuck around into the early afternoon. We close 2015 off with readings above normal, which is fitting since it will go down as the warmest December on record for Springfield.

Temperatures will fall through the 30s into the evening, so we have pretty decent weather for any outdoor celebrations for New Year's Eve.

2016 will start off dry and seasonable with temperatures near 40 tomorrow. With a strong west and northwest wind, we could see a few lake effect snow showers make their way to the area. We don't expect any accumulation as they'll be nothing more than conversational flurries. We are not expecting any storminess through the first week of 2016. In fact, though we start the new year with some low in the single digits, there are some signs that temperatures may moderate by the middle of next week as another ridges builds in across the eastern half of the country.
