Brady's K9 Fund

(Meredith) - A 9-year-old boy who dreams of becoming a police officer has raised nearly $80,000 to buy bulletproof vests for K9 officers across the country.

Brady Snakovsky, of Strongsville, Ohio, came up with the idea while watching one of his favorite cop shows, "Live PD," KTSU reported.

He noticed a K9 officer was not wearing a ballistic vest and wanted to do something about it. So, the third-grader asked his mother if they could purchase a vest for a K9 in need.

After learning the gear could cost up to $1,200, they launched a GoFundMe campaign, and the young boy founded the nonprofit Brady's K9 Fund.

Since last May, he's raised about $77,498 and counting.

His mom, Leah Tornabene, told FOX 8 Cleveland that they have donated 79 vests to multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Trooper Jim Baker, whose K9 received a vest, praised Brady's commitment.

"Makes me feel great knowing that not only is he protecting me, but I'm also protecting him," Baker said. "It's a great partnership."

According to a GoFundMe page, which features an adorable photo of Brady in a police uniform, the 9-year-old boy is determined to serve and protect, just like his officer stepdad.

Part of that mission is ensuring all K9 officers have bulletproof vests one day.

"With donors' help, he's starting to make that dream come true — one dog at a time,” the GoFundMe page states.
