Suspect in deadly Springfield triple stabbing arraigned
SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) - A not guilty plea was entered Monday for the suspect at the center of a deadly triple stabbing in Springfield on Sunday that killed two women. Four charges have been filed against Oshamah Al Kherat including multiple murder charges, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and armed assault to murder.
Al Kherat faced the judge Monday with bandages wrapped around his hands that were secured behind his back. He’s accused of stabbing three people around noon Sunday on Marion Street in what police described as a domestic disturbance.
Two women are dead. The third victim, a man, was being treated for serious injuries. Those victim’s identities are still unknown at this time.
Meanwhile in court, Al Kherat needed an Arabic interpreter to communicate with the judge as he was being brought up on those four charges. While there was a language barrier, the judge made his ruling crystal clear.
“The defendant will be held without the right to bail by agreement of the parties without prejudice,” the judge explained in open court.
Al Kherat’s next court appearance will be a pretrial hearing on June 17.
