SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - A flight out of Bradley International Airport in Connecticut Thursday had to divert back after experiencing an issue with an engine, United Airlines officials confirm.

We’re told a portion of an outer liner on the plane was found on the runway.

This was United Airlines flight 325 which left Bradley at 8:02 a.m. on it’s way to Denver, Colorado. UAL 325 was scheduled to land in Denver at 9:45 a.m. and was running on time according to FlightAware.

Airport officials report the issue happened shortly after takeoff.

“United #325 took off from BDL this morning and returned to the airport a short time later after reporting an issue,” said the CAA.

We’re told the flight landed safely.

In a statement sent to Western Mass News late Thursday morning, United Airlines reported the following about what happened:

“Our flight from Bradley International Airport in Hartford to Denver International Airport returned safely to Bradley this morning to address an issue with one engine, and a portion of the engine’s sound-dampening outer liner was found on the runway. We’re arranging other flights so our customers can continue their trip to Denver.”

According to FlightAware UAL 325 is an Airbus A320 (twin-jet) aircraft.

Airport officials noted there were no impacts to airport operations as a result of this incident.
