Thunderbirds host ‘sensory friendly’ game at MassMutual Center

SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) - The Springfield Thunderbirds hosted their fifth annual ‘sensory friendly’ game on Sunday.

The experience was designed to make the excitement of hockey accessible to fans who may be sensitive to loud noises and bright lights.

The team’s goal was to create a game-day experience where everyone can feel safe, engaged, and part of the Thunderbirds community.

Some of the measures put in place included quieter goal horn and noise meters, no strobing lights, and two ‘cool down stations.’
