MassDOT outlines upcoming bridge project in Chicopee

CHICOPEE, MA (WGGB/WSHM) - In Chicopee, MassDOT held a meeting Wednesday night to provide more information on the proposed Memorial Bridge project. In the proposition is the full replacement of the Veterans’ Memorial Bridge that carries Interstate 391 over Route 116.

MassDOT is planning to create a new bridge that provides three lanes in each direction while incorporating modern design elements. During the demolition and construction process, some detours and closures may be required, but MassDOT will be looking to maintain traffic on 391 and Chicopee Street.
